The etymology of auxiliary; not to be mistaken by the aux cord.

Back in my high school computer gaming days, I would play this game called Rome: Total War. It is a turn based strategy game, and in the game there were these Roman Military Units which are called Auxilia/auxiliary units. (An aside note but people greatly underestimate the ability of video games to be purely recreational and not also educational)

For some reason that word always stuck with me.

Fast forward to the summer of 2013, when I decided to purchase a domain for this concept of a laboratory to develop ideas, my mind went to this word auxiliary again.

I look at this word to mean a supplementary faculty outside of my self.
